The Nature Reserve Oasis Simeto in Sicily, extends for more than 2000 hectares; It is one of the richest areas of Sicily for birdlife and for its landscape interest.
The reserve is located in the middle, between the volcano Etna and the beach of Catania, one of the metropolitan cities of South Italy; the Reserve reaches to the coast of the Ionian Sea, at the mouth of the Simeto river to the lake Gornalunga.
The Simeto Oasis is one of the necessary stop in the routes of many species of migratory birds and for the famous turtle Caretta caretta; it was declared nature reserve in 1984.
